Belarus to meet Belgium in decisive EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifier

Belarus to meet Belgium in decisive EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifier

Belarus women's basketball team have held an open training session before the decisive away qualifier for the European Championship against the Belgian team. The meeting of group G will be held in Namur on 19 November.

"The match with Belgium is critical, its outcome determines largely whether we will go into the finals of the European Championship. We know the expanded setup of our opponents, game tactics, we have watched their match against Belgium. I do not think they will radically change their training in a few days.”

“The basketball players of Belgium will try to move quickly to attack, throwing a lot. The task of the Belarusian national team is to make a small number of errors. We will try to stop their fast movement," said acting head coach of the women's national team of Belarus Natalia Trofimova.

Belarus will be without Lindsey Harding and Elena Levchenko.

The victory on November 19 in Namur guarantees Belarus first place in Group G, and participation in the finals of the 2017 European Championship.

Currently Natalia Trofimova's team are first in Group G. In the European Championship qualifying, the Belarusians held three matches, in which they won two victories: over Belgium (76:71) and Poland (79:62). The only defeat was suffered at the hands of Poland at the start of the qualifying 56:65.

The finals of the women's European Championship will take place in 2017 in the Czech Republic.
