IMF technical mission on state-owned enterprises starts work in Belarus

A technical mission of the International Monetary Fund has started work in Belarus. Currently the sides are discussing the possibility of a three-year cooperation program that would be supported by a loan of $3 billion for 10 years.

The IMF puts forward a number of requirements in order for the loan to be issued.

The technical mission on state-owned enterprises has arrived in Belarus on the invitation of the Government and the National Bank.

Bas Bakker, Senior Regional Resident Representative, IMF Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe:
If we can make state enterprises more efficient and private companies stronger, it would contribute to the growth of the Belarusian economy. Our common goal is to ensure that this growth is more sustainable in the long term.
