Joint production of tractors and economic cooperation: SCO summit opens in Bishkek

Kyrgyzstan has resumed the assembly of Belarusian tractors. The opening ceremony of the production facility took place in Bishkek.

This city became the center of continental politics on November 3. It is hosting the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with Belarus being here as an observer. The main issue is economic cooperation. Belarus offered to expand industrial cooperation within the SCO.

On November 3, an assembly plant for MTZ tractors has started work in Bishkek.

Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
This assembly line's annual capacity is 500 tractors but the director corrected me saying that up to 5,000 can be manufactured. We are happy.

The company's sales department focuses on China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan as expected sales destinations.

Anatoly Chernykh, CEO of Avtomash Radiator (Kyrgyzstan):
The domestic market is going to consume about 300-350 vehicles per year. All the rest is for export. That is, everything will depend on how we will sell. I told you the facility's capacity, but the thing is to then sell all these vehicles.

While harvesters "Polesie" is still a novelty in Kyrgyzstan, the tractor brand "Belarus" is definitely familiar. The blue tractor color matches not only the never freezing mountain lake Issyk-Kul but also the colors of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. By the way, in 2016 it celebrates its 15th anniversary, while Minsk Tractor Works 70th.

Belarus joined the Shanghai organization as an observer only a year ago, in Ufa. Now the biggest Asian economic initiative has expanded by another half a billion consumers, at the expense of India and Pakistan. They have become full-fledged members. And now it is a market with $3 billion people.

Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
As part of economic cooperation, we fully share the idea of Russian partners in the integration of the Eurasian Economic Union and the SCO. This approach is supported by the leadership of Belarus and is in tune with our initiative "integration of integrations." For our part, we support the intentions and specific plans of our Chinese partners on the participation of our countries in the Silk Way initiative, the creation of cooperation platforms in the field of industry, transport and communications, innovation and financial cooperation, information technology.

It looks like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is setting a new benchmark. The participating countries require joint economic projects. Therefore, in the near future, the SCO may establish the Bank and the Fund of the Development of Shanghai integration. This will be a sort of mutual benefit fund for mutually beneficial projects.

China proposes to accelerate the creation of the free trade area and the ability to make settlements in national currencies. Cooperation not only in economy, but also in security will also be tighter. The summit participants signed a great number of documents.
