Russia expresses its gratitude to Belarus for a well-timed humanitarian assistance in Syria. That was an announcement made by Sergei Shoigu at the joint collegium of Defense Ministries.
Sergei Shoigu, Defense Minister of Russia:
It was decided to start a humanitarian mission. We invited various international organizations, allies from the OSCE and other countries to participate in that mission. I want to underline that Belarus was one of the first countries to respond and provide humanitarian assistance to people in Syria. It is a good example of our partnership relations.
During the meeting, a number of agreements were signed. Next year, it is planned to develop the potential of regional military forces and technical equipment. Countries plan to implement joint projects in military and industrial sphere and organize military drills.
Andrei Ravkov, Defense Minister of Belarus:
The main event of joint preparation of military forces is the organization of joint drills of the Armed Forces called West-2017. Today, we have discussed main approaches to the preparation and organization of the drills that will be held on the territory of Belarus.
