Belarus population census 2019: Questions and procedure

The census of Belarus will be held in autumn 2019. For the first time in 20 years, the birth rate in Belarus has exceeded the death rate. According to specialists, the natural grows of the population is a historic fact and the positive dynamics are connected with comprehensive sustained measures of public policy.

Inna Medvedeva, chairwoman of National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus:
The main aim of the census is demographic projections and social and economic development projections of the country. They include both bus and trolleybus stops and the schedule of routes in the cities.

The budget is formed on the basis of the data.

Vladimir Zinovsky, Economy Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
The census is the basis of all the macroeconomic and social programmes in any country.

Science, education and medicine are developing rapidly as well.

Irina Kireeva, head of the department of the medical examination and rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus:
We’re planning the number of medical clinics and hospitals in every city, region and district.

According to the census of 2009, the population of this neighborhood in Brest was growing very rapidly, which is why a new kindergarten and school needed to be built.

Anatoly Kuprash, head of Brest regional administration of capital construction:
The gradual building of schools and kindergartens started in those areas.

The first research of 1999 showed that the majority of families were thinking about having only one child. So the state started targeted work to achieve an upward trend here.

The Belarusian family has become bigger in 20 years thanks to the government benefits (11 types), the programme of demographic safety, one-time payments at birth of a child ( they are much higher than in CIS countries and the EEU) and maternal capital. The number of the families with many children has increased from 62,000 to 85,000 since 2009.

Marina Artemenko, deputy chief  of the Population Division, Gender and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of the Republic of Belarus:
There is a smaller number of potential mothers, but still the birth rate is satisfactory. This year, 400 more children have been born than last year.

The development of health-care is no less important. Belarus leads in the reduction of infant mortality in the post-Soviet space. Our medicine never ceases to amaze.

Tatiana Kurlovich, neonotologist of Brest regional maternity hospital:
The girl of 750 grams had the lowest weight in our hospital. Now she is already a young woman.

The number of newborn babies exceeds the number of the dead, which is also a huge success. The natural population growth is observed in 85 out of 113 cities. This shows that the quality of life is increasing.

Inna Medvedeva:
The natural population growth for today comprises 518 people for nine months. This is our victory.

A census is the international practice. In Canada, it is held every five years. The residents of Molodechno will be the first to fill out the online applications. The test collection of information is planned for the autumn of 2017.
