Belarusian weightlifter Marina Shkermankova deprived of London Olympics bronze

Belarusian weightlifter Marina Shkermankova has been stripped of the bronze medal of the Olympic Games 2012 in London for the use of illicit drugs. This information has been posted on the official website of the International Olympic Committee.

At the London Olympics, Marina Shkermankova won 3rd place in the weight category up to 69 kg. After rechecking of doping tests illegal anabolic steroids were found.

The same steroids were in the tests of two other Belarusian weightlifters - Yevgeny Zhernosek, who took 9th place in the weight category over 105 kg, and Dina Sazanovets, who was 4th, right after Shkermankova, in the weight category up to 69 kg.

Earlier it was reported that two more representatives of Belarus were deprived of medals for doping at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing: Andrei Rybakov (silver in the weight category up to 85 kg) and Anastasia Novikova (bronze in the weight category up to 53 kg).

In recent days, in addition to the Belarusians, representatives of Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine have been deprived of Olympic medals they won at Beijing 2008 and London 2012. All the offenders were disqualified and must promptly return the medals to the IOC.
