World Bank’s representative: Belarus is one of most rapidly developing countries

The World Bank noticed a great improvement in the business climate of Belarus.

In the list of 190 countries that are most favorable for doing business, Belarus got to the 37th place. Belarus is now close to its partners in the Eurasian Economic Union. Kazakhstan occupies the 35th place, Armenia is on the 38th place, and Russia is on the 40th place.

In the rating of the World Bank, Belarus started to participate in 2007. Back then, Belarus occupied the 129th place.

Jim Yong Kim, representative of the World Bank in Belarus:
Belarus is one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world. Moreover, Belarus is among the countries with average level of income.

Vladimir Zinovsky, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus:
Belarus moved from the 50th place up to 37th. However, it doesn’t mean that tomorrow we will be on the 30th or 25th place. We should understand that every country is developing and improving its position. That’s why a lot should be done to enter Top 30.It’s not a momentarily result. It’s a hard work and development of business and government.

It was also mentioned that the Ministry of the Economy is working on simplification of taxation, which will lead to better positions in the rating of the World Bank.
