Belarusian medicines became the topic of the talk show What’s Going On.
Dmitry Shevtsov, deputy of the House of Representatives of Belarus, head of Belarusian Doctors' Association:
Foreign companies spend a lot of money on advertising, which is very good. Foreign companies spend huge resource to promote a pharmaceutical product and to make doctors aware of its existence. There are a lot of conferences and seminars, where doctors could learn about medicines.
Our Belarusian pharmaceutical companies are lagging behind because they don’t advertise their products. I’m not talking about advertisements on TV, I’m talking about advertising for doctors, so that they would understand. Otherwise, doctors get the idea that if has been treating patients with a particular medication for some time, he understands the effects of that product, why change it to a new one, whether its Belarusian medication or foreign one. It’s new. That’s why we have to cooperate more closely with the manufacturers.
