Belarus’ Foreign Ministry demands apology from Ukraine for forced return of Belavia’s plane

The Foreign Ministry of Belarus demands an apology for the forced return of the Belavia’s plane.

The diplomatic office of Belarus handed over a protest note to Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine in Belarus Valery Dzhigun for the actions of the competent authorities of Ukraine on the forced return of the Belarusian aircraft.

The Belarusian aircraft was flying from Kiev to Minsk. When there was 50 kilometers left till the Belarusian air space, the aircraft was forced to return to the airport in Kiev on demand of the Security Service of Ukraine.

In case of failure to comply, military jets were ready for interception.

After the landing in the Ukrainian airport, a citizen of Armenia was  removed from the aircraft.

Afterwards, the aircraft with about 150 passengers flew to Minsk.

By the way, the Armenian citizen was released and he went to Belarus on another flight. Now Belavia seeks financial compensation from Ukraine as the result of its actions.
