Oyster mushrooms cultivated in Belarus under auspices of EU and UN

A project on growing oyster mushrooms is being underway under the auspices of the EU and the UN in the Kletsk district of Belarus. The author is a local center of social service.

Employees of the organization are cultivating mushrooms in the so-called incubators. In order for the harvest to ripe, one needs only about two months.

The first batch of oyster mushrooms has already been collected and sent for sale.

Oyster mushrooms are very susceptive to any changes in weather and nutrition conditions, so the technologists taking care about these mushrooms must be very attentive not to lose the harvest.

Temperature inside mycelium as well as the amount of moisture needs to be monitored on a daily basis. The mushrooms are grown not only in the greenhouses but also outside, on special stumps.

Oyster mushrooms have healing properties and are especially useful in autumn when human's immunity needs to be strengthened. They are also capable of removing radionuclids from a system and moreover have pleasant taste.
