The US State Department is counting on further improvements in relations with Belarus, said U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bridget Brink, adding that "there are many aspects of bilateral relations that are of great importance."
Bridget Brink noted that during her visit to Belarus she held a number of constructive meetings, including with the Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei.
The Foreign Ministry discussed how to expand Belarus-USA trade and economic cooperation. As noted by Ms. Brink, Washington understands the importance of this issue. Work in this regard will continue taking into account the newly appointed economic adviser at the US Embassy.
In addition, the State Department spokesman said that
after 31 October, the pause in sanctions against a number of Belarusian enterprises will be extended for another six months.
Talking about the parliamentary election campaign in Belarus Bridget Brink noted that the United States welcomed the peaceful nature of the elections and noted some progress.
