Tsmoki Minsk lose to Zenit in VTB United League opener

The basketball club Tsmoki-Minsk today started the new season of the VTB United League with a defeat.

The Belarus champions hosted one of the main favorites of the tournament, Zenit from St. Petersburg, but went down 58:71 (8:20, 17:22, 16:12, 17:17). The guests went in front at the start and did not allow Minskers to get even a slight chance. 

Dru Joyce was Tsmoki's most active player, who finished the game with 23 points.

Manager Igor Grischuk's Minsk will hold the second game also at home against Avtodor on October 16, followed by another home encounter against Kalev of Tallinn (October 23). The Estonian team will field a player of the national team of Belarus, Vitaly Lyutych, for whom this will be a date with the club he has just recently left.
