Alexander Lukashenko ends official visit to Pakistan

On October 6, the President of Belarus concluded the official visit to Pakistan. The plane of the head of state took off from the airbase "Nur Khan." Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accompanied Alexander Lukashenko at the airport

Yesterday in Islamabad, the Belarus President held a number of official meetings. Thus, the Belarusian head of state and the Prime Minister of Pakistan agreed to cooperate on the principles of mutual trust and are going to reach close cooperation with third countries. They also discussed the establishment of joint ventures in the food sector.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
Belarus and Pakistan should actively develop scientific and technical cooperation and during this visit open the Belarusian-Pakistan center for the coordination of scientific-technical and innovation cooperation. During the negotiations, we have reached understanding that we will strengthen collaboration in agricultural and industrial cooperation in the near future, will exchange visits of experts to expand these areas of cooperation. We will take in the near future concrete steps to invigorate cooperation between banks, collaboration in light industry, mainly textile as well as enhance collaboration in forestry, customs affairs, standardization and certification.

At the meeting the Presidents of the two countries announced that Belarus and Pakistan must reach the level of political relations . Economic aspects were discussed at a business and investment forum.

At its opening, Alexander Lukashenko said that in the next four years the countries are ready to hit a turnover of $1 billion. Belarus would like to be a window to Europe for Pakistan.

Especially because relations between Belarus and Pakistan have intensified in recent years. In 2015 alone, 58 different contracts, agreements and memorandums were signed.

The President of Belarus and the Prime Minister of Pakistan spoke about the need to reach a new and higher level, about the need to deepen cooperation.

We are interested in industry, agriculture, science and technology as well as education. In all these areas, we have entered into specific contracts and agreements during the visit.

During the business forum the countries and companies concluded various agreements worth at least $50 million.
