Economic prospects Belarus and Moldova: joint business forum opens in Chisinau

Economic prospects Belarus and Moldova are being discussed in Chisinau on October 3. A joint business forum has opened there. The Belarusian side was represented by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov.

Belarus is now among the top ten trade partners of Moldova. And in spite of the difficult situation in the region and the world, the bilateral trade figures are encouraging. For the first half of 2016, the turnover increased almost by 10% and amounted to almost $150 million.

About a quarter of wine produced in Moldova goes to the Belarusian market. Belarus sells to Moldova tractors, trolleybuses, medicines, food and more.

Andrei Kobyakov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
We have achieved good practical results in the development of industrial cooperation. Already in force in the Republic of Moldova are cooperation projects on assembling Belarusian trolleybuses and garden tractors and grape harvesters. In 2015 we started assembling tractors of low and medium power in Gagauzia. This year we started the assembly of wireless trolleybuses Belkommunmash in Chisinau and bottling of Cricova sparkling wines in Minsk. We hope that this work will continue, moreover, that industrial cooperation is supported by the governments.
