Alexander Lukashenko about China-Belarus Industrial Park: Project demonstrates growing technological level of China

The China-Belarus Industrial Park should become a showpiece project. This was an announcement made by Belarus’ President speaking with students of the Beijing University on September 30. It was said that the Park would be the pearl of the Silk Road. At the same time, it could become an international project, as various companies from different countries are eager to participate in it.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
The location of the Park is beneficial, and it became a regional logistic center. It is situated in an environmentally friendly area, and we plan to use technologies that are environmentally friendly. The Park should become the pearl of the Silk Road. I’m confident that this project will demonstrate to Europe and the whole world the growing technological level of China. Speaking with the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China today, and Xi Jinping yesterday, we have agreed that the China-Belarus Industrial Park in Belarus should become a showpiece project to show the whole world and Europe what is today’s China. You know, there are a lot of bedtime stories about the objectives of China. Why? It’s because no one wants strengthening and developing of China’s economic influence. As I said, there’s a high competition in the world, especially on the sphere of economy. China made a right decision. China chose the direction of the Silk Road, and now, the states that are crossed by the Silk Road become friends with China, because China invests billions of dollars in the economies of the states. We need to build a showpiece technological complex in the center of Europe for other European countries to see the benefits of cooperating with China. We agreed upon that with your President and the government. We will build this Industrial Park and succeed in this project at all costs.

The President of Belarus met with the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China on the last day of the visit. Alexander Lukashenko noted that has watched China's development experience for the past 25 years.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
I came here for the first time before I became President, as an ordinary MP, in order to get acquainted with the beginning of the reforms in your country. In my life, this is a good episode. Once I was laughed at in the parliament, when I suggested transferring the experience of China to Belarus. After the collapse of the Soviet Union. I did not want to destroy the existing system, I wanted to save the party and the state system, not to deviate from the economic planning. I cited the example of China. But at that time we had too many liberals who have chosen the Western path of development. And in the parliament, they did not support me. But I nevertheless continued to come to you, I have been not only to cities, I've been in your free economic zones, studied the functioning of free economic zones. I even visited villages, your families, rural families. So I know very well the general direction of the formation and development of this beautiful and ancient country. As a historian according to my first diploma I studied very well the history of China. And I am very well aware of China's role in the creation of modern civilization. And maybe even intuitively, before my presidency, I realized that the future of our planet belongs to China. And, as you can see, I was not mistaken.

Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China:
I am sure that your visit will give the state an additional powerful impetus to the further development of Chinese-Belarusian relations. I am ready to share with you views on the bilateral agenda and issues of mutual interest.
