Belarus information minister praises media for covering 2016 parliamentary election

Leading mass media are monitoring the parliamentary elections in Belarus.

The campaign is covered by about 700 journalists.

All information during the day is coming to the data center of the Central Election Commission.

The turnout has exceeded 74% and at this point, we can say that the elections in Belarus were valid. We now have live with us the Minister of Information of Belarus, Lilia Ananich. How would you assess the work of the media during this campaign?

Lilia Ananich, Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus:
The mass media of Belarus did very well during this campaign.

The voter has provided with full information on the conduct of elections, all conditions were created to ensure all the conditions can convey electoral programs.

The transparency of the elections is, of course, the voter turnout. And, since we are already at the finish, it is already 20.00, we can now congratulate ourselves on the fact that elections in Belarus are valid. As the Minister of Information, I congratulate both Minsk residents and all the inhabitants of our country and journalists who have been covering this campaign. Many people, despite good weather, still came to polling stations to vote to fulfill their direct civilian duty. The media, of course, helped hold these elections.
