Belarus is celebrating Knowledge Day. More than 3,000 schools, gymnasiums and lyceums opened their doors today to nearly one million school students. This year about 110,000 first-formers have started school life.
For all students, this September day began with thematic lessons. Belarusian universities have their own traditions on this day. Today they will welcome freshmen.
President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated students, graduates and teachers on knowledge day.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
This holiday embodies the inextricable link between generations, transmission of wisdom and experience from parents to children, from teachers to students. At all times, Belarusians valued education, skill and professionalism, and today it is these qualities that guarantee well-being and sustainable development of the country.
By tradition, on Day of Knowledge, Alexander Lukashenko meets with students and teaching staff. Today the President of Belarus will visit the 13th special boarding school for children with hearing impairment in Minsk.
