Belarus' Tatiana Kholodovich third in Diamond League in Lausanne

The Belarusian javelin thrower Tatiana Kholodovich finished in third place at the stage of Diamond League in Lausanne.

For one of the leaders of the Belarusian team the tournament in Switzerland has become the first major tournament after the Olympic Games in Rio, where Tatiana Kholodovich took fifth place.

In Lausanne, the Belarusian had her best attempt at 64.15 m. Madara Palameika from Latvia won the event with 65.29 m. Barbora Špotáková from the Czech Republic finished in second with 64.48 m.

This is not the first success for Kholodovich this season: in July 2016, she became the winner of a stage of the Diamond League in Monaco and the European Championships in Amsterdam.

Belarusian Alena Dubitskaya showed in Lausanne sixth result in the shot put - 17.81 m. The podium in this event was the same as at the Summer Games in Rio. New Zealander Valerie Adams, with 19 m 94 cm, won the event, while Michelle Carter of the United States was second - 19 m 49 cm. Christina Schweinitz of Germany became third - 19 m 33 cm.

Belarusian high jumper Pavel Seliverstov became sixth in Switzerland. He jumped 2 m 25 cm. The competition in this program was won by Mutaz Essa Barshim from Qatar - 2 m 35 cm.

Polish Anita Wlodarczyk set a new world record in the women's hammer throw. At the tournament "Camila Skolimowski Memorial" the Rio Olympic champion showed a result of 82 m 98 cm improving her previous world record (82 m 29 cm), which was established at the Summer Games in Brazil.
