Mikhail Grabovski not to play for Belarus in 2018 Olympic qualifiers in Minsk

One of the leaders of team Belarus Mikhail Grabovski will not participate in the 2018 Olympic qualification, which will be held at Minsk-Arena from 1 to 4 September.

The Toronto forward was in a long list of the national team but health problems have not allowed him to join the squad of Dave Lewis. Chelyabinsk Traktor's Vladimir Denisov will also be sidelined.

It is known that on August 26, Andrei Kostitsyn, Geoff Platt, Alexander Kitarov and Andrei Stas will join the team.

Belarus play in the Winter Olympics qualifying group D against three other teams: Slovenia, Denmark and Poland. Only the group winners will get the right to take part in the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang.

Belarus v Slovenia (17.00).

Team Belarus participated in three Winter Olympics (Nagano 1998, Salt Lake City 2002 and Vancouver 2010). It competed in four qualifying tournaments. In 1997 and 2001, Belarusians successfully passed the selection for the 1998 and 2002 Games.

In 2005 and 2013 they took second places losing the right to play at the Olympics to Latvia and Slovenia, respectively.
