Belarus planning to harvest 9 million tons of grain in 2016

Belarus is planning to collect 9 million tons of grain in 2016. This is more than in the past year. This figure was voiced by the agricultural department of the country.

Mass harvesting of grain is about to be completed. The Minsk region leads in the so-called harvest race. Here, farmers have harvested nearly two million tons of grain. It is followed by Brest, Gomel, Grodno and Mogilev regions. Harvesting is still to continue in northern Belarus. There, almost 100 thousand hectares remain unharvested. Weather prevented farmers from finishing harvesting in Vitebsk on time.

Vladimir Grakun, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus:
As of today we harvested 6.733 million tons, 2 million hectares were cropped. We have yet to crop 131,000 hectares of grain. Plus farms and people's personal lands. And in general, we are expecting about 8.8 million tons.
