Belarus taking part in CSTO's Indestructible Brotherhood 2016 peacekeeping drills

The drills of the CSTO peacekeepers Indestructible Brotherhood 2016 started on August 23 in Belarus. It will be held at the military training ground Obuz-Lesnovsky. Troops from Russia have already arrived at the airport in Baranovichi.

The military intend to work out a number of innovations that reflect the updated methods of peacekeeping missions. The CSTO partners will hone their skills in humanitarian assistance to local population on a simulated territory of conflict. They will also exercise the destruction of illegal armed formations.

Besides Belarusian and Russian military the drills will involve peacekeepers from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Military units will employ more than 500 aircraft and armored and automotive vehicles.

Valery Semerikov, Deputy General Secretary of CSTO:
We will work out tasks provided by the United Nations mandate. Along those, we perform common tasks. This is, of course, the question related to the reception of refugees, which involves almost all the ministries and departments concerned. First of all, we focus on the Republic of Belarus, including the administration of cities and regions.
