Belarusian runner Marina Arzamasova reaches 800m final

The Belarusian athlete Marina Arzamasova has reached the final of the 2016 Olympics in the women's 800m.

Marina Arzamasova is the current world champion in this discipline. From the beginning of the semifinal Olympic race she took the lead and did not give the first position to anyone until the finish line. However, she failed to maintain the advantage. 

Marina was outrun by three rivals, including the notorious South African runner Caster Semenya. Arzamasova finished fourth overall with a time of 1:58.87. The best of all the semifinal participants was the Caster Semenya - 1:58.15.

In the preliminary race Arzamasova overcame the 800 meters in 1:58.44. The final race will be held on the last day of the Olympics - 21 August.
