Belarus reaches U18 Women's European Championship 2016 quarterfinal

The basketball players of Belarus U18 have reached the quarterfinals of the FIBA Women's European Championship (Division 2), which is underway in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

In the final match of preliminary group B Belarusians defeated Ukraine with a score of 73:68 (20:21, 9:8, 25:12, 19:27).

In the previous matches coach Victoria Datsun's Belarus were defeated Poland (72:60), Denmark (92:63), and Albania (94:26).

Final standings in Group B: Belarus - 8 points, Poland - 7, Ukraine - 6, Denmark - 5, Albania - 4.

Belarusian basketball players will continue to fight for promotion to Division 1 against Iceland in the quarterfinal. The winner of that match will meet with the best team of the Greece v Germany match in the semifinals. In the other quarterfinals, Bosnia and Herzegovina play Poland, while Sweden take on Ireland.

The quarterfinals will be held on July 29, semi-finals on July 30 and gold and bronze games are to be held on 31 July. Top three teams of the tournament are promoted.
