Belarus wins three medals at IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz

Belarusian athletes have won three awards at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

First was Elvira Herman, who won the women's 100 meters hurdles (12.85 seconds). Then Maxim Andraloyt earned 8,046 points in the decathlon to take second overall place.

Finally, discus thrower Gleb Zhuk added a third medal to the national team of Belarus. In his best attempt, the Belarusian showed a result of 61.70m. He eventually won third place being behind Qatar's Mohamed Ibrahim Moaaz (63.63m), who scooped gold, and Oskar Stachnik from Poland (62.83m, silver).

In general medal standings, Belarus team took 12th place, ahead of such track and field giants as Britain (13th, 1 gold medal) and South Africa (22th place, 3 silver medals). The USA won in the medal standings, with 21 medals: 11 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze).
