FC BATE has reached the third qualifying round of the Champions League. In the second leg of the 2nd round BATE went to Finland to take on champions Seinäjoki. The game ended in a draw 2:2, with the Belarusian club progressing to the next round on aggregate.
The visitors began the match in a very confident manner immediately taking the initiative in their hands. BATE then opened the scoring thanks to Alexander Karnitsky's header.
Having conceded, the hosts rushed to equalize but 15 minutes later they conceded another one, this time after a long range effort by Alexei Rios.
Being 2:0 up, FC BATE lost focus and goalie Sergey Veremko then conceded twice, not without mistakes from his side.
By the 60th minute, the Finnish players felt they could even win that game but BATE did not allow it ending the game with a comfortable though a bit disappointing draw.
BATE's opponent in the 3rd qualifying round will be either FH Hafnarfjörður (Iceland) or Dundalk (Ireland).
Their first game in Ireland ended 1:1. The return leg takes place today in Iceland.
