FC BATE Borisov of Belarus has started with a win in the Champions League qualifying. They defeated Finland's Seinäjoki 2-0 in the first leg of the second qualifying round at Borisov-Arena July 12.
The 12-time champions of Belarus had a big advantage in their first match of the new European season. 32 minutes into the game, Yuri Kendysh opened the scoring after a corner kick.
After the break, the hosts also held possession and dominated, which resulted in captain of FC BATE Borisov Vitali Rodionov converting his chance into the second goal. The return leg will be held at the Finnish champion's arena July 19.
Three other Belarus' representatives at the European arena will hold their matches on July 14, in the Europa League, which is the second most important football club tournament. Dinamo Minsk host Irish St Patrick's, Soligorsk's Shakhter will play at home against Slovenian Domžale, while Zhodino's FC Torpedo-BelAZ will travel to Hungary to take on Debrecen.
