Ivan Tikhon brings Belarus third medal at European Athletics Championships

The Belarusian hammer thrower Ivan Tikhon has won a silver medal at the European Athletics Championships.

For a long time, during the final competition at the Olympic stadium in Amsterdam, the eminent Belarusian athlete was ranked third with a score of 76m 60 cm. However, in the final attempt, he threw 78m 84cm and thereby guaranteed a silver medal. Poland's athletes Paweł Fajdek (80m 46cm) and Wojciech Nowicki was third (77m 53cm) took the rest of the podium. 

Another Belarusian hammer thrower took part in the final. Sergei Kolomoets finished in sixth place (74m 65cm).

The silver medal of Ivan Tikhon became the third one for Belarus at this athletics tournament. Earlier, Tatiana Kholodovich scooped gold in the javelin event and runner Alina Talai took second place in the women's 100m hurdles.
