Belarusian Alina Talai bags 100 meters hurdles silver at 2016 European Athletics Championships

Belarusian Alina Talai has won a silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in the women's 100 meters hurdles.

One of the leaders of the national team of Belarus, the bronze medalist of the World Championship 2015, was among the favorites for the tournament in Amsterdam in the 100m hurdles. In the semifinals, she showed the best time among all starters, 12.76 seconds. 

However, in the final, Talai gave way to German Cindy Rohleder. The Belarusian's time is 12.68 seconds. The athlete from Germany ran 100 meters hurdles in 12.62 seconds. UK's Tiffany Porter won bronze in 12.76 seconds.

Two other Belarusian sprinters who took part in the semifinals could not make it into the top eight. Ekaterina Poplavskaya showed the thirteenth best result, 13,04 seconds. Elvira Herman took 16th place, with 13.18 seconds.

In the shot put, German Christina Schwanitz won gold with the result of 20.17m. Yulia Leontyuk became the best of Belarusians landing on fourth spot with 18.20m. Alena Dubitskaya finished in sixth place, 18.03m.
