Belarus' foreign ministry condemns Baghdad twin blasts

The international community should continue to assist Iraq in establishing peace in the country. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has condemned the double bombing in Baghdad.

The specially issued statement reads: "The Belarusian side strongly condemns all acts of terrorism and believes that acts of violence against civilians can never be justified."

Two bomb blasts on the night from 2 to 3 July claimed the lives of 213 people. More than 170 are wounded. Doctors say many are in critical state. The extremist group Islamic state has already claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iraq has declared three-day mourning. People are bringing flowers and candles to the place of the tragedy. It happened on a busy Baghdad street where families with children and youth come during Ramadan after sunset. About an hour later, another blast rattled the north of the Iraqi capital.
