Mladenovic to face Sasnovich in Wimbledon round 1

The draw of the 130th Wimbledon tennis tournament was made in London on June 24. In the first round of the women's singles the Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich (world No.98) will meet France's Kristina Mladenovic (33).

This is the second such tournament for the 22-year-old resident of Minsk. A year ago Sasnovich finished Wimbledon after the second round.

Olga Govortsova (113) will take on Spanish Lara Arruabarrena (87). For 27-year-old Govortsova the current Wimbledon will be the 10th in her career. Last year, Olga managed to reach the 4th round, her best ever Big Slam achievement.

The best Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, ranked 6th, has retired from the tournament on grass courts due to a knee injury.

In the men's doubles, the Belarusian-Filipino tandem of Max Mirnyi / Treat Huey, seeded 12th, will start against the Spanish duo Pablo Carreño Busta / Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Max Mirnyi turns 39 on July 6, and this is the 20th Wimbledon for him.

The Belarusian's best is the 2003 final, when he was paired with Indian Mahesh Bhupathi. In 1998, Max Mirnyi and Serena Williams won the mixed doubles. In the same category, in Wimbledon, Maxim Mirny, together with Victoria Azarenka, became Olympic champions in 2012.

The Wimbledon matches start on Monday, June 27. The prize pot at Wimbledon is 28.1 million pounds. Champions in the singles will earn 2 million pounds and the finalists 1 million. Wimbledon will end July 10.
