UEFA has held today the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the Champions League 2016/2017 in Nyon, Switzerland.
Belarus' BATE Borisov kicks off the Champions League campaign from the 2nd qualifying round against the Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki.
The first match will be held in Borisov on 12 or 13 July, while the return game takes place 19 or 20 of July on the pitch of the Finnish champions.
This will be the 14th European campaign for BATE. The Borisov club played 5 times in the group stage of the Champions League. Now, to get to the 32 best teams of the Old World, manager Alexander Ermakovich's BATE have to overcome three qualifying rounds.
SJK Seinäjoki begin their second European campaign in 2016. Last season, the Finnish team lost in the 1st qualifying round of the Europa League to FH Hafnarfjörður, losing at home and away with the same score 1:0.
Also, Belarus will be represented by three clubs in the Europa League. Silver medalists of the national championship Dinamo Minsk and bronze medal winners Shakhtyor will begin from the first qualifying round. The Belarusian Cup holder from Zhodino, Torpedo-BelAZ, start from the second qualification phase.
