European Commission investigating Bialowieza Forest logging on Polish territory

The European Commission has initiated an investigation of the Bialowieza Forest logging. We are talking about the Polish part of the national park.

Warsaw decided to destroy part of the woods because of the bark beetle, which is extremely dangerous for trees. However, social and environmental organizations criticized such measures against the insect. According to some experts, the forest can be destroyed for the sake of economic benefits. Now a specially created commission will answer the question about the legality of logging.

If the unique forest, located on the territory of Poland and Belarus, is broken at least partially, this will immediately result in the fact that the primeval forest in both Belarus and Poland will lose the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
