Antitrust and Trade Ministry to be operational in Belarus from September 8

The Ministry of Antitrust and Trade will be operational in Belarus from September 8, said head of the Trade Ministry Vladimir Koltovich.

The main task of the structure is the protection of Belarus' internal market. All its participants will have to work in equal competitive conditions.

Control will be in the field of public procurement, advertising and unjustified price increases. The buyer will win in this case.

In addition, the Ministry will become the only body that can carry out checks without reason.

Vladimir Koltovich, Trade Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
The development of competition has such an objective and negative trend as monopolization. The monopolization means restriction of competition. In this connection, the antimonopoly body is a counterbalance in the economy. In addition, the Republic of Belarus is today an integral part of the Eurasian market. And the realization of the principles on which the Eurasian Union operates (the freedom of movement of capital, goods, labor and services) makes the existence of such a body in the country necessary.
