Belarus drops to 78th place in FIFA rankings

Belarus national team has lost one position in the updated ranking of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and now occupies 78th place.

In May, Alexander Khatskevich's Belarus held two friendly matches away against the future participants of Euro 2016 Finals. In Belfast Belarus lost to Northern Ireland 0:3 but then won against Ireland in Cork 2:1. Now the Belarusian team has 442 points.

The Belarusian team's opponents in the qualifying tournament for World Cup 2018 occupy the following places in the June ranking: 14 - The Netherlands (959 points), 17 - France (925), 35 - Sweden (735), 69 - Bulgaria (518) and 146 - Luxembourg (221).

The top ten of the June FIFA ranking:

1. Argentina - 1,503 points,

2. Belgium - 1,384,

3. Colombia - 1,328,

4. Germany - 1,310,

5. Chile - 1,293,

6. Spain - 1,267,

7. Brazil - 1,257,

8. Portugal - 1,181,

9. Uruguay - 1,150,

10. Austria - 1,077.

Ukraine (894) is the best out of all FSU countries, 19th place. Russia is 29th (828), Uzbekistan 66th (544), Estonia 94th (360), Latvia 104th (330), Armenia 110th (315), Kyrgyzstan 111th (313), Kazakhstan 112th (312), Lithuania 127th (282), Turkmenistan 134th (264), Georgia 137th (260), Azerbaijan 138th (252) and Tajikistan 164th (150).

A total of 209 teams have entered the list, with the next FIFA rating to be published on 14 July after Euro 2016.
