Andrei Stas named Belarus' best player of 2015/16 season

Belarus and Neftekhimik's striker Andrey Stas has been named the best player of Belarus of the 2015/16 season at a meeting of the executive committee of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus.

At the 80th World Hockey Championship in Russia the striker was one of the leaders of the Belarusian team, participating in all the seven matches and scoring five goals. In the KHL's season Stas played 47 games for the team from Nizhnekamsk in the regular season, earning 13 points (5+8). In the playoffs, the Belarusian took part in three matches.

Mikhail Zakharov was voted the best coach of the 2015/16 season. His HC Yunost Minsk won the President's Cup in Extraliga and will take part in the Champions League already in August 2016.

By the decision of the Executive Committee of FHB Yuri Faikov has been confirmed as head coach of the Belarus U17, U18 and U20 teams. It was also determined that the youth team of Belarus will play in the Extraliga of the Open Championship of Belarus from the season 2016/17.

Belarus will host the Olympic qualification from 1 to 4 September. The traditional Ruslan Salei Cup will be held from 1 to 11 August 2016. The semis will be played in September and the final in October 2016. 

The Belarus Championship begins September 8, 2016, with the seventh (final) game of the final series scheduled for April 5, 2017. 

During the Salei Cup, the Ice Hockey Federation will test the format when teams compete 3 on 3 in overtimes. If this formula proves to be successful, it may be used during the regular season of the Belarus Championship.
