Scary images to appear on cigarette packs in Belarus, EEU technical regulations read

Belarusian tobacco manufacturers will be obliged to use frightening images on cigarette packs. Such are the requirements of new technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Belarus is a member state.

Tobacco producers have 365 days to introduce this packaging design.

Graphic images on the packs will contain the negative effects of smoking pictures - tumors, blindness, heart attack and others. Inscriptions will be made in Russian and Belarusian languages.

Egor Zaitsev, head of the World Health Organization Country Office in the Republic of Belarus:
The advantage of this package is that it does not allow promoting tobacco products, and it shows the harm that tobacco products bring to both consumers and those who are with them. This reduces demand. That is, people will not want to keep the packages in their hands.
