In order to strengthen stability in Central and Eastern Europe Belarus, together with international organizations, is implementing an international project on strengthening of security measures in the warehouses of small arms and light weapons.
To reduce the risk of their spread, seven military units have been equipped with modern alarm systems, with fences replaced.
More than 10 objects are ahead. Especially for them software has been developed that will allow for automated accounting of ammunition. The European Union has also allocated funds for equipment that enables utilization of weapons.
Robin Mossinkoff, head of Head FSC Support Section, OSCE:
I believe that the Republic of Belarus is a good example of how to cooperate in the framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The republic is cooperating with 56 countries. I am sure that Belarus will be able to not only show but also to educate the other countries how to properly act under the weapons recycling program.
