One of the largest economies in the world is ready to establish close contacts with Belarus. Belarusian parliamentarians, headed by the Chairman of the upper chamber of the parliament, are visiting India.

On May 11 Mikhail Myasnikovich met in Delhi with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. The speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament voiced the initiative to establish free trade regime between the Eurasian Economic Union and India.

The sides also discussed the development of cooperation between regions of the two countries, following the example of Belarus-Russia format. In turn, the President of India spoke warmly of his visit to Belarus in June 2015 and a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko.

Early in the morning on May 11, the Belarusian parliamentary delegation visited the Memorial Complex Raj Ghat. This is one of the most important and revered places in India.

Here Mahatma Gandhi is buried, who is India's Father of the Nation. The tradition of visiting the complex demands that visitors take off shoes before entering.

The parliamentarians laid a wreath at the memorial and also threw petals of red roses, as required by the tradition. Then Mikhail Myasnikovich made an entry in the guest book.
