Combating tax evasion: Belarus to introduce legislative innovations

Belarusian authorities continue combating illegal businesses. On Friday April 22, a new presidential decree will come into force. Just recently, there has been a resonant detention in Minsk. Criminals successfully combined gambling with illegal activities.

Over the past three years, Belarusian authorities have managed to establish more than 1,000 of these organizations. More than 9,000 representatives of the real sector of economy were their clients. Now companies that used the services of these illegal structures will have a chance to become legal taxpayers without any fines for their 'sins'.

Igor Marshalov, Deputy Chairman of the State Control Committee - Director of the Department of Financial Investigations:
If, say, a company mistakenly used the services of such illegal businesses, it may simply calculate taxes owed upon receiving an order from financial investigation bodies. In this case, the company will be exempted from fines and administrative responsibility. Otherwise, Decree No.510 will be used, which means that this company will be checked in the normal manner and it will be able to appeal and to prove its innocence in court.
