Belarus' Agriculture Ministry mulling over benefits from WTO accession

Export of Belarusian milk has grown by 12% and meat by 20% in Q1 2016. Such figures were voiced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The largest share of domestic products is exported to Russia. The goal is to develop the Russian direction but, most importantly, to find new markets for exported goods.

At the moment, the ministry is working on ways to seamlessly harmonize Belarus' agro-industrial complex with WTO rules.

Leonid Zayats, Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus:
We are dealing with the issue. We have at our ministry an official, the deputy minister of agriculture, who will oversee WTO accession. Before we start, we should choose for ourselves the most interesting points, which should also be the most profitable for our agro-industrial complex. We look forward to receiving wider opportunities for the delivery of our products to the markets of the World Trade Organization.
