Belarus counts on Eurasian Economic Union members in WTO accession

Belarus counts on the support of Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) partners when joining the WTO, said Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov in Moscow at the April 13 meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

The President of Belarus earlier made a solid decision that the country needs to intensify substantially WTO accession negotiations.

The Prime Minister said that the government will hold in the near future a series of meetings with members of the WTO and prepare an updated set of negotiating proposals.

Andrei Kobyakov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
Belarus thinks that the main objective is to eliminate restrictions in mutual trade. In this regard, I suggest revisiting our idea: to collect proposals of the parties on the priority list of 10-20 exemptions and take measures for their expeditious elimination. The Belarusian side expects serious progress in this work due to structural changes in the commission and the appointment of a member of the Eurasian Economic Commission board on the internal market and the creation of the department.
