CIS notes transparency during Kazakhstan parliamentary election

The preliminary results of the early parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan have been announced. With a huge margin leads the ruling party Nur Otan, headed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. It polled more than 82%.

Also in the lower house of the parliament will be the Democratic and the Communist parties, who have approximately 7% of the vote.

The elections were held at a record turnout - it exceeded 77%.  The voting process was monitored by about 800 foreign observers. The official results will be declared in about 6 days.

Sergei Lebedev, member of the CIS observation mission:
We have the opportunity and talk with all the representatives responsible for the electoral process, local observers and candidates of parties and even party leaders. I consider this peaceful course of the elections as positive. Why? Because it speaks of stability, first and foremost, political stability, in Kazakhstan, as it was last year in Belarus.

Belarus will also hold a parliamentary election in autumn 2016.
