Belarus' sporting events next week (14-20 March)

BGK Meshkov hold on Saturday the first match of the 1/8 finals of the EHF Champions League. Opponents are Poland's strongest squad Vive-Kielce. In the EHF CL group stage the Polish club took second place behind Barcelona. The first leg takes place in Brest at 19:00 Belarus time.

The Belarusian football season, which started last week with the Super Cup, will continue with the quarterfinal of the Belarus Cup. On Saturday FC Minsk take on Soligorsk Shakhter while Naftan meet Belshina. On Sunday, the public will see the favorites. Dinamo Minsk face Torpedo-BelAZ and BATE encounter FC Slutsk.

The USA's Portland will host the IAAF World Indoor Championships. Belarus star Marina Arzamasova will not take part in the event, but we will be cheering for Alina Talay. The championships in the USA is among the last rehearsals for the Olympic Games in Rio.

The coming week will draw a line under the 2015/16 biathlon season, which was without Belarusian superstar Darya Domracheva. The last point for shooting skiers will be distant Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk. The local route will take the ninth round of the World Cup, which will determine the owners of the Crystal Globe in the men's and women's events. Frenchman Martin Fourcade is the most likely winner. In the women's section, Czech Gabriela Soukalova is now first in the overall table but her leadership is still quite shaky. Marie Dorin Habert of France as well as Italy's Dorothea Wierer may also grab the Crystal Globe.
