Belarus, Russia developing infrared camera

Scientific modernization within the Union State of Belarus and Russia continues. Belarusian developers, together with colleagues from Russia, continue to work on the program "Union State Infrared Camera."

For several years, they have produced optoelectronic systems that convert thermal radiation from various objects into an image on the screen. Thus it is possible to identify attempts to transport illicit substances at the border.

Gennady Kovalchuk, director general of the scientific and industrial precision engineering holding company:
The sensor reacts immediately and customs offers can immediately see what it is. It is impossible to define it in a usual way. It ensures accuracy, and this element base is needed in civilian conditions and for ensuring the defense of the Union State.
