Belarus in sporting events: 8-14 February review

The Belarus national team under Dave Lewis went on Wednesday to Zilina, where on Thursday and Friday they played matches of the international tournament Slovakia Cup. Our team was represented mainly by young players, including those who have recently defended the colors of the youth team at the Youth World Championship, as well as a number of hockey players of Dinamo Minsk. Among the latter is Charles Linglet, who made his debut for the national team of Belarus.

At first Belarusians, fought against hosts Slovakia and lost 1:2. Nikita Ustinenko scored Belarus' only goal. Then there was a game against Switzerland, which for Belarus won 3:1. Goals were scored by Alexander Kulakov and Artem Demkov (the HC Shakhtyor forward scored twice).

Handball SKA Minsk returned home. Last week SKA held their first matches in the renovated Palace of Sports "Uruchcha". On Wednesday, the palace opened after a long renovation. The fight in the national championship against HC Gomel was the debut for SKA at the new arena.

For handball players themselves and for all the services involved in the match, it was a dress rehearsal for the much-awaited EHF Cup match. It was a success: Gomel was defeated 24:19.

And on Saturday SKA Minsk fans seemed to have returned to the glorious 1980s. Crowded stands, the bright game of SKA Minsk and the victory over Swiss Winterthur 31:27 in the EHF Cup!

Tsmoki Minsk are facing problems in the VTB United League. During the week Tsmoki suffered a disappointing home defeat against visitors from Riga's VEF. In the duel with Tsmoki, the guests were trying to get the first win in the last six games. Minsk audience longed to see the triumph of their club after a bitter defeat in the FIBA Cup in a recent match. But Tsmoki fans once again had a chance to witness the destruction of their favorites. The Dragons and it is not the first time this season, gave up their advantage at the very end of the game and lost 75:74.

The Belarusian club has long left the playoff zone of the VTB United League and are finding themselves in 10th place.

The ski resort Silichi hosted alpine skiing competitions "Silichi Masters Cup 2016". The above zero temperature had no effect on the quality of the descent. Everyone could test it. The youngest participants of the tournament were barely 9 years old. And the oldest participant was 76.

However, the total number of athletes was not more than 50. Skiers registration procedure was greatly simplified: everything could be done remotely. This allowed participating not only Belarusians, but also representatives of other countries. The competition did receive the international status. However, there was only one foreigner who came to Silichi.
