International Book Exhibition opens in Minsk

International Book Exhibition opens in Minsk

One of the main events of the Year of Culture in Belarus is underway in Minsk. On February 10, the 23rd International Book Exhibition will open in the Belarus capital.

Nearly 30 countries will present their achievements in the field of literature. The guest of honor this year will be Armenia. A delegation from Ecuador is among the special guests. Among the exhibitors will be Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, the UK, the United States and beyond.

In recent years, Belarusians have been reading more in their native language. For this reason, for example, last year the circulation of books in Belarus increased by 17%.

Lilia Ananich, Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus:
Not only dates, but we would like to show in a somewhat concentrated way that the national book publishing is working in different directions. And we want to show it here, in retrospect, through the book, which has already become an archive, which is already in libraries.
We welcome here various nations. This is a true crossroads where world problems are being solved. You can see here Russia, Germany, the UK, the United States, many other countries, from our CIS neighbors to our distant partners like Palestine and China. The book carries a great unifying humanitarian force.

As part of the exhibition, there is held an international literary symposium, a seminar of young writers and the award ceremonies for the winners of the national contest "Art of the Book". The winner in its main nomination - Triumph - was a project about Vladimir Mulyavin "With My Heart and Thoughts".

The President of Belarus has sent congratulations to the participants of the 23rd Minsk International Book Fair and the International Symposium of writers "Writer and Time".
