Belarus reaches zero balance between birth, mortality rate for first time since 1993

Belarus has reached zero balance between birth rate and mortality rate for the first time since 1993, according to Vasily Zharko, Minister of Health. The successful implementation of demographic security programs, technical re-equipment of maternity hospitals, and improvement of professional skills of the staff has contributed to the achievement of these results.

In 2015, the healthcare of the country was able to achieve progress in all directions. Quality and accessibility of health services considerably increased, new medical facilities were commissioned, and a campaign of vaccination of the country’s population successfully passed.

In addition, pharmaceutical industry made a step forward. The share of national products in the domestic market is more than 50% today.

Vasily Zharko, Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus:
A department was formed in 2012. During this time, we have increased the issue of domestic medicaments threefold. We saved 230 million. Not only the state system, but also non-state pharmaceutical companies work well.
