Raubichi hosts Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup

Sports Complex Raubichi hosted the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup from 15 to 17 of January. This competition is quite serious. Participants of this event are the best Belarusian, Russian, and Ukraine athletes, including Olympic medalists who competed for awards in individual races, sprint, and skiathlon. It’s clear that with such a set of programs there was a question about a competent organization of the route. Work to compact anomalous amount of precipitation began at 6a.m. every day.

Leonid Chashchin, main referee of the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup:
I’m very pleased that many good athletes responded to such event as the Eastern European Cup. Almost the whole Russian team, including the men's team in the face of Eugene Dementyev and Turyshev. The level of the competition was very good.

Ivan Listopad, honored coach of the Republic of Belarus in ski sports:
The route has been prepared artificially at first, but then it began to snow. The track was extended only half of a kilometer. The competition was held at a high-level.

Belarusian athletes and students of the Belarusian State University of Physical Training (BGUFK) came out on streets to help workers in cleaning the territory of the Belarusian Republic Olympic Training Center. After all, Belarus has long been waiting for hosting even more important winter competitions.

It means that even hosting less important events Belarusian athletes should express their best qualities and the country be as hospitable as possible.

Ivan Listopad, honored coach of the Republic of Belarus in ski sports:
All judges talked about this. Athletes notice an outstanding organization of the event. So, I think that in the future we will carry out such competitions.

The track was perfectly prepared. In fact, snowfalls haven’t created any problem, but rather helped to lengthen the distance, and to tightly cover it with snow. Such weather conditions are much better than a month ago.

Andrei Melnichenko, winner of the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup (Russia):
Everything was perfect, I liked it. The track was short at first, but then everything was well.

Mikhail Kuklin, bronze medalist of Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup (Belarus):
The route was made well, but in the qualification it was a little crumbly. During the race the track became better and then everything was well.

Almost all participants were satisfied with the organization of the competition in the sports complex Raubichi. That's why this track is called one of the best. So, perhaps, very soon one of the World Cup stages will arrive in Belarus.

Andrei Marchenko, participant of the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup (Ukraine):
There was a snow cyclone at first, but the organizers had everything cleared. So, the track was at a high level.

Nikolai Fastovets, coach of the Kiev region:
The Eastern European Cup in Belarus has been one of the best in Europe. Everything was great.

Leonid Chashchin, main referee of the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup:
When all work together in the same direction, it’s much easier to solve problems together, rather than separately.

Alexander Shamko, minister of sport and tourism of the Republic of Belarus:
There was an active reconstruction of the sports complex Raubichi. A capacity of the object increased. Unconditionally, the track became wider, more comfortable, and more lights were added. I think that we will continue to get rights for hosting such international competitions. A technical base is created, and we have all conditions for hosting such events. Last year we passed examinations to have a right for conducting the international competitions at the international format. We were holding the Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championship. And the assessment of international specialists was perfect.
