Belarus, Ukraine to resolve border issues with help of border plenipotentiaries

Belarus and Ukraine will solve problems at the border with the help of special border plenipotentiaries. The length of the common borders is more than a thousand kilometers. Now Belarus and Ukraine are working on the demarcation of the border. This process does not directly affect security at the site. Engineering structures are built not on the line of the state border. Depending on the specific area they may be located hundreds of meters away.

The situation on the southern borders of Belarus remains stable and controlled. The appearance of the institute of border plenipotentiaries will contribute to this in the future.

Vladimir Bazanov, deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
The border plenipotentiaries will have some powers as well as their deputies and so on. Mainly, they will be able to prevent incidents. If these incidents occur they will be able to deal with them in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, citizens of Ukraine make up the majority of migrant workers in Belarus. In 2015, 26,000 Ukrainians arrived in Belarus is search of jobs. These are not Ukrainians but also Russians, citizens of Kazakhstan, Armenia and China. Belarus' migration attractiveness is steadily growing. Three years ago, the number of foreigners who entered Belarus for work, was 10,000.

Anna Levitskaya, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
The majority of migrant workers are working in agriculture, construction industry and a little fewer in the service sector. The number of migrant workers in the Republic of Belarus is constantly growing. Positive dynamism has been observed since 2012. At the same time the number of Belarusians who go abroad for employment (those who leave Belarus legally) has been decreasing.
