Belarus' labor migration attractiveness increasing

The Belarusian budget for 2016 is now being considered by Belarusian MPs. The draft law on the national budget for 2016 entered the House of Representatives yesterday. The discussion is scheduled for the afternoon.

Deputies have already examined several other documents. They include an agreement on border plenipotentiaries. They will help improve the security of the southern borders of Belarus. The length of the border with Ukraine exceeds 1,000 kilometers, and the agreement, in particular, will help in the investigation of various incidents and emergencies. This year, 53 weapons and 500 munitions were seized on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Attempts of drug delivery were stopped too.

Vladimir Bazanov, deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
The border plenipotentiaries will have some powers as well as their deputies and so on. Mainly, they will be able to prevent incidents. If these incidents occur they will be able to deal with them in a timely manner.

The MPs also reviewed a document that will deal with the importation of goods into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

As is known, Kazakhstan joined the World Trade Organization. The country now shares in real time information about customs declarations on the import of certain goods. However, there are positions that fall under limits. For example, sugar imported in Kazakhstan, according to the rules of the WTO, is not for distribution in other EEU countries. The same applies to products and goods subject to veterinary inspection.

Vitaly Busko, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:
We clearly defined the list of goods that fall under its scope, and we stated clearly that if the goods are imported under a tariff different from EEU tariffs and the owner of the goods paid the EEU tariff, it is considered as originating from an EEU country. And there are no more problems with these goods. Second, in connection with this item, the document stipulates that Kazakhstan must provide the rest of the EEU member countries information on these products.

MPs supported amendments to the law on foreign labor migration. This year about 26 thousand foreigners moved to Belarus in search of jobs. The majority of them are citizens of Ukraine. Other nations include Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and China. Belarus' migration attractiveness is growing. Three years ago, the number of foreigners who entered in Belarus to work was 10,000.
